Before selling your diamonds, it is important to understand how they are valued in the retail market. Once a diamond has been mined, it is cut by a professional diamond cutter and it is then channeled through a broker to a wholesaler. Usually, the wholesaler will sell diamonds on to a jeweller who will use the stone in a piece of jewellery which you will then purchase, or, you could just purchase the stone on its own. Obviously as the diamond moves along the channels from being mined to sitting beautifully in the end piece of jewellery, it receives a mark up in price which will ultimately dictate the value of your stone.
When you purchase a diamond, it will usually come accompanied by a certificate with all the stone’s details which include the colour, cut, clarity and carat weight. These 4C’s are determined by specialist laboratories. If you do not have this certificate, we will professionally determine the 4Cs for you. Our staff are highly trained in this area.
